The Chronicles Of Narnia Essay, Research Paper Narnia. Is a land of phantasy and escapade where thaumaturgy and a Great Lion prevail. A land where so many people wish to be, a land from start to complete in The Chronicles of Narnia. Seven books written by Clive Staples Lewis have proven to be the most bewitching and magnetizing books of all clip. Pure beauty and astonishing imagination allows the reader to go an adventurer of Narnia and take portion in the absorbing escapades bound to go on. Readers become one with the pages, non desiring to set the book down for fright of the fantastic land of Narnia get awaying their heads. Not desiring to lose the joy and cloud nine as the words flow, page after page, book after book. The Chronicles of Narnia were foremost written by C.S. Lewis with kids in head. Easy duologue and a sense of world in the phantasy puting allows all ages to bask and fall in love with these books. The escapade begins with The Magician # 8217 ; s Nephew. The reader is introduced to Digory Kirke and Polly Plumer. Digory # 8217 ; s Uncle Andrew, a huffy prestidigitator, doesn # 8217 ; t to the full understand the thaumaturgy that he is covering with. Andrew was given four rings when he was a kid and when he received them, was ordered to throw them off and neer think of them once more. He didn # 8217 ; t do so. By sheer hocus-pocus, Andrew convinces Polly to steal on one of the rings. When she did so, she opened the Gatess to the # 8220 ; Woods Between the Worlds. # 8221 ; Here, she found a wooded country with pools every bit far as the oculus could make. Digory went after his darling playfellow and shortly the two of them embarked on an escapade that would alter their lives everlastingly. Charn was the first universe, or pool, that they entered. After researching this dark universe with ancient ruins, they stumbled into a room where statues of royal households all sat in a row. An captivation was put on them and Digory, being a arch male child, broke the captivation rousing an evil enchantress. The enchantress, Jadis, had destroyed Charn and one time the kids realized how evil she was, they tried to get away, the enchantress had tightly gripped Polly # 8217 ; s hair and they ended up back in England, where Andrew was cowardly waiting. Jadis, who was besides really power hungry, caused mayhem in England until the kids devised a program to free her and direct her dorsum to Charn. In order to make so, they had to steal on their rings and keep onto her. Something happened though, alternatively of traveling to Charn, they stumbled in to a different universe, a universe that was wholly black. The kids stood in the emptiness of this baseless universe reasoning with Jadis about go forthing her at that place. Before they had a opportunity to acquire off, something happened, something extraordinary. A sound of music filled their ears and all were stunned when a immense king of beasts appeared in the darkness, stunned by his size and the fact that he was singing the beautiful notes. All at one time things began to go on around the kids. Earth formed under their pess, stars appeared above their caputs, it was clear to the kids that the Lion was making a new universe. After mountains, rivers, and lakes were formed, life began to jump up all around them. Trees shot up through the new Earth, animate beings began walking toward the great Lion. The assembly now got under manner. The Lion introduced himself as Aslan, and much to the kids # 8217 ; s surprise, the other animate beings greeted him with words and non sounds. Aslan named the animate beings and the trees, and told them th is was their new place, this, was Narnia. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe tells the narrative of how four more kids came encounter with this delicious universe. Digory was now an old adult male, a professor, populating in an old sign of the zodiac in England. Friends of his had a crisis and asked him to look after their four kids. He volitionally agreed. Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevens felt otherwise, but, reluctantly went. Before Digory had left Narnia, Aslan instructed him to bury the rings. He did this and a immense tree had grown in the really topographic point he had placed the rings when he was merely a kid. When he moved from that house into his sign of the zodiac, he cut the tree down and made a immense closet and placed it in an empty room inside his house. The Pevensies shortly became world-weary and decided to play a game of fell and seek. While playing this game the kids had climbed into the closet. This is where they entered Narnia. An of import fact of Narnia is that its clip is wholly different from ours. A twelvemonth may go through in this universe, and a million has passed in Narnia. Its impossible to think how much clip has passed since a old visit. Besides, when you enter Narnia, you may be there for 50 old ages, and when you leave to come back to our universe, no clip would hold passed. You come back at the same clip, the same hr, even down to the 2nd as to which you left. Therefore, when the Pevens # 8217 ; entered Narnia, more so a hundred old ages had passed since the clip of Digory and Polly. The four kids met Aslan and took portion in an escapade to salvage Narnia from Jadis, the evil enchantress. After assorted tests and trials, the kids saved Narnia and Aslan made them Kings and Queens of the land, the speaking animals, and all others who dwelled here. The Horse and His Boy, Prince Caspian, The Ocean trip of the Dawn Treader, and The Silver Chair all trade with different escapades and different characters from our universe who help to salvage Narnia clip and clip once more. These four books allow the reader to see what has happened since the old book and with each bend of a page, the reader sees the hereafter of Narnia unfold. These narratives all lead up to the Seventh and concluding book of the series, The Last Battle. Two speaking animals devise a program out of selfishness and amour propre to seek and do the hereafter of Narnia go their manner. This is where the reader meets Shift, an ugly ape, and Puzzle, a stupid donkey who listens to everything Shift says for he feels inferior to the ape and wants to delight him at all times. Shift finds the tegument of a king of beasts and makes it into a costume for Puzzle. With the right lighting and the costume on, Puzzle slightly resembles Aslan. Shift assembles the speaking animals at midnight and tells them that Aslan is among them. At this point, Puzzle shows himself, the speaking animal, who have neer met Aslan for he comes and goes as he pleases, bow down and listen to his every bid. Shift is merely out to do money, he sells the free animals of Narnia into bondage, cuts down the speaking trees and programs to subvert Narnia. All of those in Narnia fright Aslan for they know his power is non a force to be reckoned with, so, they have no pick but to ob ey. The current King of Narnia, Rilian, knows that there is something incorrect, through all the narratives of Aslan that he has of all time heard, he knows Aslan would neer make such horrid and indefinable things. By naming Jill Pole and Eustace, two former heroes who were on a train in our universe with their friends, other heroes of Narnia, he is able to set up a battle, a really little battle. The people of Narnia begin to turn on each other, doing great conflicts and many lives. The existent Aslan shows up merely in clip, but, alternatively of salvaging the universe he has created, he destroys it and everything in it, except for those who have followed him and have proved their trueness. All those who were spared, were brought to a different universe, Aslan # 8217 ; s Country. A universe with in a universe, the mirror image of Narnia with the exclusion that everything is much bigger and has more beauty. A topographic point where unhappiness does non be, where acquiring tired is non an option. Due to a train accident in our universe, Lucy, Edmund, Peter, Digory, Jill, Polly, and Eustace were all killed. Though they died in our universe, their lives were merely get downing in Aslan # 8217 ; s Country. Digory and Polly, who were 80 old ages old in our universe, were now kids once more. All who were spared by the Great Lion, live now with him, in the true universe of Narnia, where animate beings talk, being happy is a must, and painful memories seize to be. The Chronicles of Narnia are filled with dreams and a yearning desire to partake in the escapades. C. S. Lewis had an unmistakable endowment for composing. His books will be passed down for coevalss to come, go forthing all those who read the Narnia books with a smiling on their faces and high hopes that they to may one twenty-four hours get in Narnia and populate a life full of beauty, escapade, love and regard.

William Blake My Pretty Rose Tree Essay Example For Students
William Blake My Pretty Rose Tree Essay My Pretty Rose-Tree, written by William Blake, is a poem of love, jealousy, and sorrow. This eight-line poem, following the abab acac rhyme pattern, is full of strong symbolism and a great deal of personification, all used in an attempt to express the narrators feelings. William Blake brings the flowers alive with the personified characteristics he has given to them. Blake is describing a man who is completely in-love with one women, while at the same time he is being tempted by another. This mans love for his lady at home is so great that he passed the sweet-flower oer (Line 4) and returns home. When he tells his lady of the encounter she leaves him because of extreme jealousy. This poem seems like it could be a wonderful love poem with the whole rose/flower theme, but it turns into a sorrowful disaster story leaving all three characters in the poem devastated and alone. Blakes great use of symbolism brings the poem to life. And her thorns were my only delight (Line 8). This line fi ts the poem so perfectly. Such a delicate flower is the rose, but if one is not careful the thorns can break the skin and cause great pain. This describes exactly how the man is feeling in the poem. This man deserves great pity, because he thought he was doing the right thing by rejecting Such a flower as May never bore; (Line 2) and then having the love of his life leave him for it. What is a guy supposed to do? William Blakes The Lily is a great poem of love and beauty. These four lines of poetry are packed full with descriptive symbolisms. Blake is describing how beautiful, pure, and wonderful his Lily is. His comparisons of a rose, a sheep, and a lily are so very interesting. He is saying that a humble sheep and a modest rose use a threatning horn or a thorn to hide their true self, while the lily has nothing and wants nothing to hide behind. Modesty and humble are used as something one does not want to have. His use of the word Modesty is used as a prudish self-protection. This lack of classification is what makes the Lily so beautiful, so pure, so White. Yet, if a lily can be stained, does that not take away from the purity and high classification of it? Should it not be thrown back into the group with the sheep and the rose? Both of these poems are very similar, especially with the theme of flowers. Many of Blakes poems deal with flowers, gardens, and nature, which are symbolic of his unconditional love for a specific person. These two poems in particular use flowers to symbolize beauty/purity, and the thorns of a rose symbolize the downside to love, or the heartbrokenness. Blake uses a rose to symbolize lustful beauty, but soon changes his mind about how wonderful roses are after being heartbroken. He then turns to a lily instead of a rose to describe beautiful purity. He even stoops low enough in The Lily to criticize the rose for having thorns, saying that roses use thorns to protect themselves from having to show their true feelings. We will write a custom essay on William Blake My Pretty Rose Tree specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now My Pretty Rose-Tree deals more with jealousy and sorrow, while The Lily is just describing the love and lust for the perfect person. Blake does not say whether or not the Lily is obtainable, but he still rejects the idea that a rose is considered the best, or higher than any other flower. Is it possible for one person to be completely perfect and pure? If so, then is it conceivable to think that one specific type of flower can sum up the love a person feels for another? William Blake writes about someone who finds the perfect person, only to find out that they are not so pure and wonderful as first thought. Blake tries to give love a name, or a category, when he knows that it is not possible to do such a thing. Whether it is a rose, a lily, a garden, or a sunflower, William Blake finds a way to make love seem like it is the most pure feeling a person can have. .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 , .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .postImageUrl , .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 , .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1:hover , .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1:visited , .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1:active { border:0!important; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1:active , .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1 .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u0ada43bdd5e992c84364ef3b8b3369d1:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Future of VoIP Technology EssayBut I said Ive a Pretty Rose-tree,But my Rose turnd away with jealousy,And her thorns were my only delight. DBQ Federalist vs Antifederalist essays
DBQ Federalist vs Antifederalist essays It can be argued that the Federalists were the first political party in the United States. Their goal was simple; to unite the states and form a strong central government. There were various attempts at uniting the states, the first of which was the Articles of Confederation. These articles were not effective due to the fact that they did not have the power to tax the States or the power to enforce a uniform commercial policy. This caused the government to basically go bankrupt, and when this occurred, it was evident that the Federalists had failed in their plan of union. Their next attempt, the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, was successful in uniting the States, but still lacked the necessary acceptance of the people. Due to the failure of the Articles, the people did not trust the Federalists who created them, and in effect, would not allow those same men to gain supreme power of the country by creating a strong central government. The Federalists were not successful in handling the problems that faced this newly created nation because they lacked the power of a strong central government. The people of the United States were not satisfied with the way that the government was handling matters which pertained directly to them; which was without their consent. This is shown in the case of the Whiskey Rebellion (Document D). The Whiskey Tax was implemented due to the fact that the federal government needed to raise money to pay off state debts. Hamiltons plan was to tax Jeffersons supporters; this way he would not lose any of his own supporters, and at the same time he would be raising the necessary funds with which he would pay off the states debts. The fact that the farmers took violent action against government officers, such as tax collectors and federal marshals, shows that this government was not as strong as it thought it was, in that the people still thought that violence was an acc ...

Week 5 Journal Essays - Free Essays, Term Papers, Research Papers
Week 5 Journal Essays - Free Essays, Term Papers, Research Papers To say that talking about this is hard for me with people that I dont know. I normally dont talk about this with anyone that I dont know, and truly writing about these things in my life is very hard for me with a class that is online, where I dont know anyone. This is taking a lot of courage to write this for people to know. My life was an uphill battle. When I was growing up I dated someone that beat me for years. This was just not physical, but also mental and emotional abuse. This was just the start of what happened to me. When my parents looked at me they always said I didnt do things that were good for me. As I got older I was traded by someone that I was dating for drugs and eventually raped by her drug dealer. This led me to end up being pregnant and having a child. After all of this I have had many feelings of depression and sadness that made it so I did nothing with my life for a long time. I would everyday use these feelings to keep myself in my bed and hide from the world and do nothing with my days. As time went on I always used the fixed mindset that I was nothing and dirty, which led me to fall into a deeper depression and I would stop trying to get better because I thought there was no use. As time went on I started using a growth mindset with the help of other people to change the way that I felt. This made it so I could do something with my days. I always had to say to myself that I am more than what happened to me, Im a survivor. I can do anything and I have to be a mother to my child and that is what helped support my growth mindset. Every time that I started to fall back into the fixed mindset of depression and hopelessness I would use my self-talk and push myself to a growth mindset to keep moving on. This has been the hardest thing in my life, but I have pushed through.

Celebrating new year becomes pop-cultrual celebrity Essay
Celebrating new year becomes pop-cultrual celebrity - Essay Example New Year has now become a worldwide celebration with so much anticipation and expectations put in line to mark the day (Mercer, 26). People all around the world start counting down the New Year day before the clock ticks midnight. They will count all through the last sixty seconds and cheer when the New Year begins. People will tend to hug, jump and wish their friends a ââ¬Å"Happy and prosperous New Year and sing along various songs designed for such a day. New Year is a historical celebration that has become a pop cultural celebration in almost all nations in the world that comprises of so many memories and resolutions taking place on this material day (Mercer, 44). This paper discusses how New Year has become a pop cultural celebration in the world through wide the influence from internet and social media. Celebrations of the New Year has not started recently, the first celebration is dated back to 2000 B.C in Mesopotamia (Mercer, 48). It was marked on mid-March and was celebrated during the time of the vernal equinox. Various ancient cultures also tied a varied of other dates to the seasons. The Egyptian, Persians and Phoenicians made history by celebrating the New Year eve with the fall equinox and on the other hand the Greeks decided to celebrate it during the winter solstice. As stated before, calendars used by various countries determine when the New Year celebrations take place. In the early Roman calendar, New Year was on March date one. Their calendar had just ten months with March being the first month. The calendar was not as the same with what is used today since some month like September and December were the seventh and tenth months respectively. It was during the first celebrations of New Year in Rome that the month of January joined the calendar. The month was not in existence until 700 B.C during the rule of Numa

Plymouth (UK) airport will never re-open Term Paper
Plymouth (UK) airport will never re-open - Term Paper Example However, this trend did not last long after 2009 (Great Britain 2010, p. 101). The airport was eventually officially closed on the 23rd of December 2011 after the owners coming to an agreement that this was the right decision to make at that particular moment. There are a number of reasons that are believed to have led to the closure of Plymouth City Airport. According to the management of the airport, closure was made inevitable due to the economic downturn and the problems that the UK aviation market was facing at that time. Just 6 months before the airport was closed the company had registered a loss of up to à £1m (Hynes 2010, p. 201). This was a simple sign that the airport was not going to do well under the same condition given the fact that the airport had more than 50 employees. If they decided to remain functional, they would have continued incurring losses because they would still have operational costs, compensation of their employees being included. The situation at Plymouth Airport was made worse by the withdrawal of Air South Westââ¬â¢s flights to London. This meant that the airport no longer had any London passengers going through it. This was a big blow to the airport. The management tried all they could to find a replacement for Air South West, but they were not successful. This led to a situation whereby less than 100 passengers were flying from this airport every day. This was a simple implication that the airport was no longer commercially viable. Much of the services that were offered did not earn the airport any profits due to the situation that had developed as a result of the withdrawal of Air South West, the economic turn-down, and the problems that the UK aviation industry was facing at that time (Pavlyuk 2014, p. 22). This can be explained by the fact that by the month of April 2011, Sutton Harbour Holdings had already announced that the airport would be closed down by the end of 2011. In fact, the

Virtual simulation in business Essay Example for Free
Virtual simulation in business Essay Management games (or business simulations) have been finding favour in business education in recent years. Figure 11. A flight simulator (from Wikipedia) Performance enhancements are a well-known advantage of simulator training. Researchers have shown that flight simulators effectively improve pilot performance related to landing skills (Hays, Jacobs, Prince, Salas, 1992) and instrument and flight control abilities (Pfeiffer, Horey, Butrimas, 1991). Training using virtual environments has also been demonstrated to improve user performance. For example, Sebrechts (2000) found that wayfinding ability (ability to navigate through a space) was greater in users who were allowed to explore a virtual environment in comparison to the actual building. To successfully evaluate performance in their own programs, trainers should proceed through four levels of training evaluation including reaction, learning, behavior, and results. In addition, trainers who wish to measure performance must begin with valid and reliable performance metrics. Technical obstacles or barriers to development or usage Implications to a manager in a high-technology organization Trends: Future directions in historical or other dimensions THE FUTURE Technologies such as Simulation and Virtual Reality will dominate the entertainment and science forefronts well into the next Century. Since early childhood, we have always learned by role playing and building models of things. With todays computer prices, personal computers are highly affordable. Armed with your computer, you can proceed to build models of reality and let them loose to see what happens and to learn more about reality by modeling it. While what we may do today may be primitive by standards set in science fiction shows such as Star Trek (The Holodeck) and Lawnmower Man, the present computer simulation discipline will lead the way to these eventual goals. The key word is digital as pointed out by many such as Nicholas Negroponte at the MIT Media Lab in his recent text Being Digital. We want to create digital replicas of everything you see as you look around you while reading this article. When you want to construct a digital world, you will pick digital objects, using a 3D, immersive construction tool to put them together. The digital objects may be located anywhere on the Internet and you will use help tools (or autonomous agents) to locate the building block objects for your digital world. Some of this type of work is being done in Distributed Interactive Simulation which is a thrust pioneered by the Department of Defense. The implications of these types of simulations are profound since the idea of distributed simulation has enormous potential, also, in industrial and entertainment fields. (Fishwick, 1995)
